Abhi in Wonderland - Mt Shasta, Crater Lake and McCloud Falls

To go or not to go...
This was the Question in our minds for a long time. Winter is not the best time to make this trip, not unless you are ok with the adverse weather conditions that entails. Not to mention drive up all the way to find out that the roads have been closed off...
But there was a break in the weather just alligned with my shutdown week and it looked like the Gods wanted us to go, Vijay willing ofcourse ;-)...

Well all of us (Vidya's Family and ours) and even Manu who said she is going to sit at home an study (how boring) are glad we went.

This was a trip to fantasyland. Reminded me of a poem I read as a child, about Earth being Bride and Sky The Groom. If ever one needs to find proof, this was one place.
Earth decked up in white like a virgin bride, snow glittering in the sun as if a garland made out of million stars and thrown over her head, Sky extending his arms for an eternal embrace.

Awed and inspired at the same time are the words that can possibly begin to describe the emotions in my heart...

Crater Lake is located in Southern Oregon on the crest of the Cascade Mountain range, 100 miles (160 km) east of the Pacific Ocean. It lies inside a caldera created when the 12,000 foot high Mount Mazama collapsed 7,700 years ago following a large eruption.
If you are visiting Crater Lake check http://www.nps.gov/crla/index.htm for latest information.
You can also check out the webcam on this site to give you a glimpse of road and weather conditions.
