Day 5-house in the field (HDR)

house in the field, originally uploaded by abhishikhaa.

This is my first attempt at HDR.
Used photomatix (trial version) to blend 3 bracketed exposures.
I actually have 7 exposures (f/16 & 50mm) but I am still learning to play with Photomatix options. Need to figure out how to dial down the red in the trees, I would prefer them to appear more black. Also need to figure out how to make sunlight shining on the balcony noticable but not yet obvious....

Till then ... suggestions/comments welcome :-)

There are multiple ways that you can address the color balance you are looking for in the frame.

1. Make sure you go easy on the saturation slider in photomatix

2. Since your requirement is to target certain areas there are many options:

- You can use an adjustment brush in either lightroom/raw therapee and paint over the areas with your custome settings

- Use any layer capable editing software to make adjustments using multiple layers and blend them together. Say you use the channel mixer and reduce the red, this would affect the entire picture, but applying a layer mask and revealing only the areas you want.

You might want to check out the video podcasts on GIMP at meetthegimp.org especially starting from episode 3...http://meetthegimp.org/episode-3-a-ship-in-the-fog-part-1/

Hope that helps.
