Day 2 - A Shot @ the Moon

Day 2 - A Shot @ the Moon, originally uploaded by abhishikhaa.

Took a shot at the moon for my Day 2 pic.
It took several exposures to get the right shutter speed .
Finally shot with f/32 aperture and shutter speed of 1/5 secs (200mm)
but I could not decide between the two colors of the moon, maybe my frens can help me with this :-

yeah I like the second one. Also I have had best shots when the moon is closer (it was yesterday and I missed it) and with around f11. The more details of the moon you get the cooler it looks. I have always used my 70-300 and when the moon is close and with a tripod .. the second shot is cool

ok throwing my 2 cents here:

Both of them look nice to me, of course the second one does show a lot more detail due to brightness being less.

First, if moon is the only element in the frame, then you might want a closer crop on it...probably filling up the frame. With your current crop, I feel like there is too much of empty space around. So something in the foreground would definitely add more to the composition.

Secondly, f/32 on a crop sensor really doesn't help much. Add to it the light gets diffracted much more and you aint gonna get anything by stopping down that much. Since I don't know the reasons as to why you stopped down that much, the only thing that comes to mind is to cut down the light...in this composition wouldn't make much of a difference. Say if you shoot this with f/8 - f/11 then you can even do it with hand held as its a full moon and you'll gain quite a lot in shutter speed on it.

...crap...I just can't talk less ... my bad :-p

Sudhi to ans your Qs -- i tried all f/5.6 f/8 f/11 and f/16 --- most shots were toooooooooo bright ... even with the shutter speed 1/500 ... it was just too white .. and i wanted to get the detail what you see in second shot before clouds engulfed the moon ..so i was part being hasty coz i thought if clouds get the better of me -- i wont get the shot so i stopped down as much as i could... Though there is another full moon coming in Feb... I will definitely start earlier that day and try wider apertures.
